President: ‘Makhalla Must Be An Initiator of Reforms in Society and Serve as the Buttress for the People’
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Sobirobod Makhalla (the local neighborhood community area) in the Tashkent’s Yunusabad District.
Approximately, 10 thousand people live in this makhalla. As a result of the work on the «makhallabay» (each community residential area – one by one) system, the socially significant issues are being resolved. The appearance of multi-storey buildings has been updated, the paths and communication networks have been repaired.
The area around the Yuqori Qoraqamish Canal, which flows through the makhalla, was previously abandoned. Now it is landscaped and turned into an alley. The pedestrian bridges, playgrounds and sports grounds, a bicycle path and a fountain have been built. The benches, chess tables and a water wheel are installed. The trees were planted and a lawn was laid. A 300-meter-long grape gallery was built on the territory around the canal.
The President became familiar with these conditions, talked with makhalla representatives and elders.
«Now the representatives of the makhalla have become a big team. The deputies, an assistant to the khokim (governor), a youth leader, and a prevention inspector work with the chairman together. Moreover, with decent wages, conditions and authorities. In response to such an attitude, it is necessary to show a responsibility. The makhalla should be the initiator of transformations in society and serve as a buttress to the people», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has noted.
The growth point of the Sobirobod Makhalla is entrepreneurship. The dozens of business entities work here – manufacturing enterprises, consumer service points, private clinics and grocery stores. The potential of entrepreneurship is effectively used at other makhallas.
In the presence of the makhalla representatives, the Deputy Prime Ministers reported on what investments are planned to attract to the Yunusabad District and how many jobs shall be created.
