Tashkent hosts SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Conference
The 7th international scientific and practical conference of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure has kicked off in Tashkent on November 6.
The event was attended by representatives of competent authorities of the member states, observer states, dialogue partners, as well as a number of specialized structures of prestigious international organizations, such as the UN, CIS, OSCE and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Pursuant to the instructions of the heads of the SCO member states, a number of agreements were signed this year by the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure. In particular, memoranda of cooperation with the Executive Directorate of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the UN Security Council, the African Center for the Study and Research on Terrorism, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation and interaction between the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, the CSTO Secretariat and the SCO RATS.
A session was organized on “National experience in countering terrorism and extremism in the SCO space”. Reports of experts from 15 countries, in particular, Uzbekistan, China, Russia, India, Iran and others, were heard.
